This Kf�{la conscious\n\n_yoga system cannot be practiced by an ordinary man who has\nno attachment for Kf�{la, for it is a different system, and the\ntopmost\n\n-\n\nb ha k ti _y oga .\n-\n\nThere are five types of direct attachment, and there are\nseven types of indirect attachment. Indirect attachment is not\n\nbhakti. Direct attachment is called bhakti. The intellectual persons, those boys who\nhave brahminical qualifications, are being restrained in brahmacarya student life: they don't take to meat-eating, they don't\n\ntake part in intoxication, they don't take part in gambling,\nthey don't take part in illicit sex. They are being trained as\ncomplete briihmar;tas, the highest intellectuals, the most purified\npersons in society. If there is one briihmar;ta in a whole family,\nthen the whole family-the whole society-becomes sanctified.\nBut today they have no knowledge of how to train a briihmar;ta,\nor how to train a k§atriya. In the other fields of action, in the\nwork of siidras and vaisyas there is nice training. If. anyone\nwants to be a businessman, there are colleges or technological\nschools. That's very nice. But why should everyone be dragged\ninto technology? Just as in your body: for proper maintenance\nwe require the head, the arms, the belly and the legs. All these\nparts of the body are required. So, for the four propensities of animal life-eating,\nsleeping, mating and defending-there is reasoning power even\nin the beasts. Sukadeva\n\nwas only sixteen years old when he was taught the Bhiigavatam,\n\nand\n\nhe was illuminated.\n\nHe was already liberated in the\n\nimpersonal concept of the Absolute, but after hearing the\n\nBhiigavatam from his father, he became attracted by the\npastimes of Kr��a, and he became a preacher of the Bhiigavatam.\n\nFirst he explained it before Maharaja Parik�it, the great king.\n\nA short history of Maharaja Parik�it is that he was a very pious\n\nking, but unfortunately by some of his acts he was cursed by\n\na briihma'!a boy to die within seven days. In those days if a\n\nbriihma'!a should curse someone it would come true. They had\n\nthe power to curse or give benediction.\n\nSo Parik�it understood that within a week he would have to\n\ndie, and he prepared himself. The words of the Lord are\nalways sublime, but as soon a·s they are touched by the serpent\n\nof a nondevotee, one should be very careful about hearing.\n\nIn the Bhiigavatam, it is indicated that as soon as Sukadeva\n\ntouched it, it became delicious. This is the distinction.
