Śrīla Prabhupāda gave the world not only ideas but cultural institutions—for instance, Kṛṣṇa conscious temples where people can chant the names of the Lord, feast on delicious vegetarian food offered to Him, and learn the science of self-realization. Among the more than one hundred temples Śrīla Prabhupāda founded are (1) ISKCON's Western world-headquarters in Los Angeles, (2) ISKCON's European headquarters just outside London, and (3) the Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma Temple and International Guesthouse in Vṛndāvana, India. In addition, Śrīla Prabhupāda introduced authentic Vedic festivals—notably Ratha-yātrā, the "Festival of the Chariots." This two-thousand-year-old event literally brings the temple to the people, and Śrīla Prabhupāda was always eager to take part, as here (4) in San Francisco 1969, (5) in London 1973, and (6) in New York 1976.
