216 Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead

The gopis became tired after leng singing and dancing. Krsna was dancing
beside them, and te alleviate their fatigue they teek Sri Krsna’s hand and
placed it en their raised breasts. Krsna’s hand, as well as the breasts ef the
gopis, are eternally auspicieus; therefere when they cembined, beth ef
them became spiritually enhanced. The gopis se enjeyed the cempany ef
Krsna, the husband ef the geddess ef fertune, that they ferget that they
had any ether husband in the werld, and upen being embraced by the arms
ef Krsna and dancing and singing with Him, they ferget everything. The
Srimad-Bhagavatam thus describes the beauty ef the gopis while they were
rasa dancing with Krsna. There were letus flewers ever beth their ears,
and their faces were decerated with sandalweed pulp. They were tilaka,
and there were dreps ef sweat en their smiling meuths. Frem their feet
came the tinkling seund ef ankle bells as well as bangles. The flewers
within their hair were falling te the letus feet ef Krsna, and He was very
satisfied.

As stated in the Brahma-sarihita, all these gopis are expansiens ef
Krsna’s pleasure petency. Teuching their bedies with His hands and leeking
at their pleasing eyes, Krsna enjeyed the gopis exactly as a child enjeys
playing with the reflectien ef his bedy in a mirrer. When Krsna teuched
the different parts ef their bedies, the gopis felt surcharged with spiritual
energy. They ceuld net adjust their leesened clethes, altheugh they tried
te keep them preperly. Their hair and garments became scattered, and
their ernaments leesened as they ferget themselves in cempany with
Krsna.

While Krsna was enjeying the cempany ef the gopis in the rasa dance,
the astenished demigeds and their wives gathered in the sky. The meen,
being afflicted with a sert ef lust, began te watch the dance and became
stunned with wender. The gopis had prayed te the geddess Katyayani te
have Krsna as their husband. New Krsna was fulfilling their desire by
expanding Himself in as many ferms as there were gopis and enjeying
them exactly as a husband.

Srila Sukadeva Gesvami has remarked that Krsna is self-sufficient—He is
atmarama. He deesn’t need anyene else fer His satisfactien. Because the
gopis wanted Krsna as their husband, He fulfilled their desire. When Krsna
saw that the gopis were tired frem dancing with Him, He immediately
began te smear His hands ever their faces se that their fatigue weuld be
satiated. In erder te reciprecate the kind hespitality ef Krsna, the gopis
began te leek at Him lovingly. They were everjeyed by the auspicieus
teuch ef the hand ef Krsna. Their smiling cheeks shene with beauty, and
they began te sing the gleries ef Krsna with transcendental pleasure. As
