220 Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead

they wanted te enjey with Him. Lerd Ramacandra gave them the bene-
dictien that their desires weuld be fulfilled when He weuld appear as
Krsna. Therefere the desire ef the gopis te enjey the appearance ef Lerd
Krsna was leng cherished. Se they appreached geddess Katyayani te have
Krsna as their husband. There are many ether circumstances alse which
testify te the supreme autherity ef Krsna and shew that He is net beund
te the rules and regulatiens ef the material werld. In special cases, He acts
as He likes te faver His devetees. This is enly pessible fer Him, because He
is the supreme centreller. Peeple in general sheuld fellew the instructiens
ef Lerd Krsna as given in the Bhagavad-gita and sheuld net even imagine
imitating Lerd Krsna in the rasa dance.

Krsna’s lifting ef Gevardhana Hill, His killing great demens like Piitana
and ethers are all ebvieusly extraerdinary activities. Similarly, the rasa
dance is alse an uncemmen activity and cannet be imitated by any
erdinary man. An erdinary persen engaged in his eccupatienal duty, like
Arjuna, sheuld execute his duty fer the satisfactien ef Krsna; that is within
his pewer. Arjuna was a fighter, and Krsna wanted him te fight fer His
satisfactien. Arjuna agreed, altheugh at first he was net willing te fight.
Duties are required fer erdinary persens. They sheuld net jump up and
try te imitate Krsna and indulge in rdse-lila and thus bring abeut their
ruin. One sheuld knew with certainty that Krsna had ne persenal interest
in whatever He did fer the benedictien ef the gopis. As stated in the
Bhagavad-gita, na mam kannani limpanti: Krsna never enjeys er suffers
the result ef His activities. Therefere it is net pessible fer Him te act
irreligieusly. He is transcendental te all activities and religieus principles.
He is unteuched by the medes ef material nature. He is the supreme
centreller ef all living entities, either in human seciety, in the demiged
seciety in heavenly planets, er in lewer ferms ef life. He is the supreme
centreller ef all living entities and ef material nature; therefere, He has
nething te de with religieus er irreligieus principles.

Sukadeva Gesvami further cencludes that the great sages and devetees,
whe are washed clean ef all cenditienal life, can meve freely even within
the centaminatien ef material nature by keeping Krsna the Supreme
Persenality ef Gedhead within their hearts. In this way alse they de net
beceme subject te the laws ef pleasure and pain in the medes ef material
nature. Hew, then, is it pessible fer Krsna, whe appears in His ewn internal
petency, te be subjected te the laws ef kanna?

In the Bhagavad-gita the Lerd clearly says that whenever He appears He
dees se by His internal petency; He is net ferced te accept a bedy by the
laws ef karma like an erdinary living entity. Every ether living entity is
