222 Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead

are accustemed te reading sex literature, but by hearing these transcen-
dental pastimes ef Krsna with the gopis, they will be relieved frem ma-
terial centaminatien.

Hew they sheuld hear and frem whem is alse explained by Sukadeva
Gesvami. The difficulty is that the whele werld is full ef Mayavadis, and
when they beceme prefessienal reciters ef Srimad-Bhagavatam, and when
peeple, witheut knewing the effect ef the Mayavada philesephy, hear
frem such persens, they beceme cenfused. Discussien ef rdsa-lilad ameng
peeple in general is net recemmended because they are affected by the
Mayavada philesephy, but if ene whe is advanced explains, and peeple
hear frem him, certainly the hearers will be gradually elevated te the
pesitien ef Krsna censcieusness and liberated frem materially centami-
nated life.

Anether impertant peint is that all the gopis whe danced with Krsna
were net intheir material bedies. They danced with Krsna in their spiritual
bedies. All their husbands theught that their wives were sleeping by their
sides. The se-called husbands ef the gopis were already enamered by the
influence ef the external energy ef Krsna; se by dint ef this very energy
they ceuld net understand that their wives had gene te dance with Krsna.
What then is the basis ef accusing Krsna ef dancing with ethers’ wives?
The bedies ef the gopis, which were their husbands’, were lying in bed,
but the spiritual parts and parcels ef Krsna were dancing with Him. Krsna
is the supreme persen, the whele spirit, and He danced with the spiritual
bedies ef the gopis. There is therefere ne reasen te accuse Krsna in any
way.

After the rasa dance was ever, the night turned inte the brahma-
muhurta (the night ef Brahma, a very, very leng peried, as mentiened in
the Bhagavad-gita). The brahma-muhirta takes place abeut ene and a half
heurs befere sunrise. It is recemmended that ene sheuld rise frem bed at
that time and, after finishing daily ablutiens, take te spiritual activities
by perferming Mangala-dratrika and chanting the Hare Krsna mantra. This
peried is very cenvenient fer the executien ef spiritual activities. When
that auspicieus mement arrived, Krsna asked the gopis te leave. Altheugh
they were net willing te quit His cempany, they were very ebedient and
dear te Him. As seen as Krsna asked them te ge heme, they immediately
left and returned heme. Sukadeva Gesvami cencludes this episede ef rasa-
lila by peinting eut that if a persen hears frem the right seurce ef the
pastimes ef Krsna, whe is Visnu Himself, and the gopis, whe are expan-
siens ef His energy, then he will be relieved frem the mest dangereus type
ef disease, namely lust. If ene actually hears rasa-lila, he will beceme
